I was just reading on the most recent Dave Weckl Newsletter, that he has been working with Sabian to design another series of cymbals called the HHX Legacy series which are designed more for acoustic music, so i'm guessings these will be something like the K constantinople series. Can't wait!

At NAMM a few years ago I saw Dave's band and was amazed at the amount of sound coming from the cymbals themselves vs. the mic'd sound from the mains. These cymbals really cut through the band while sounding very musical.

I did a search for HHX LEGACY and this is all I could find (from Drumdogs.com message board):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey all!
I just got a chance to play a few prototypes from Sabian which may be added to the new HHX line, and I must say that there's some great stuff on the way! Two of the cymbals (The hihat and a ride) were both unidentified Sabian prototypes, but there was a Legacy ride with two rivets which was absolutely amazing! The thing was very responsive and gave beautiful lows while still having good stick definition. It also responded really well to brushes.
Something for you guys to keep an eye out for!

I can't wait to see/hear/play these!!!

oh wow it all makes sense, at my jazz summerschool this year Steve Davis (the drum tutor) was using this beautiful 22" flat ride which was a Sabian Prototype (as well as his usual line of Bosphorous cymbals). It was one of the most gorgeous ride cymbals i'd ever heard. I HOPE like crazy that was an HHX legacy coz I want one badly!

Sabian has always made the best sounding cymbals for me. Until Zildjian came out the modern K Constantinople, I had no interest in them at all(Z's). Sabian was the only mass produced Hand Hammered cymbal on the market at the time. The only way to get that sound either old K's, or Sabian HH jazz rides from 1985-2000. The Evolutions are so musical sounding to me.

I hear ya! My only complaint besides the 12" splash is that my 20" evo ride is VERY thin... but the upside to that is that it sounds GREAT when crashed! KILLER BELL though, best bell I have EVER played on a ride... super cutting with a dark resonance.
